Great Britain celebrated success at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris, capturing gold medals in both the women’s synchronised 10m platform diving and the artistic swimming mixed duet.
Maisie Bond and Lois Toulson earned the top spot in the 10m event with a total of 300.06 points. They narrowly defeated Germany, who scored 298.20, and Ukraine, which finished with 286.20. Toulson noted that the result marked a personal best for the pair, fulfilling their goal of winning gold through rigorous preparation.
In the artistic swimming mixed duet, Isabelle Thorpe and Ranjuo Tomblin secured their first European title by recording 258.2383 points. They edged out Spain by a slim margin of 0.2650, while Italy took third place. Despite facing injury challenges during their training, Thorpe expressed joy at sharing the victory with Tomblin. Tomblin, who also triumphed in the men’s solo technical event earlier in the week, highlighted the significance of the shared achievement.
The men’s 1m springboard diving final saw British athletes Jack Laugher and Jordan Houlden finish on the podium. Laugher claimed the silver medal with a score of 418.25, and Houlden took bronze with 410.30, trailing behind the German winner, Moritz Linus Wesemann, who scored 431.45.
