A 61-year-old grandfather, Keith McAllister, tragically died after being pinned to an MRI machine for nearly an hour when the powerful magnet latched onto a 20-pound chain around his neck. The incident occurred at Nassau Open MRI in New York on Wednesday, July 16. Keith had entered the scan room after his wife, Adrienne, had completed a knee scan. veronica perasso nude Despite previously discussing the chain which he used for weight training with the technician, he was not reportedly reminded to remove it before stepping into the MRI room. According to police, the machine’s magnetic field instantly pulled him toward it. Family members said efforts to free him took almost an hour, during which he was unresponsive. He suffered a heart attack and passed away the following day. His stepdaughter, Samantha Bodden, described Keith as a cheerful, family-loving man who adored his grandchildren and enjoyed simple joys like biking and visiting the park. Speaking to Metro and through a GoFundMe campaign, she alleged that the technician failed to warn him about removing the chain, leading to the fatal accident.
Adrienne McAllister, still in shock, recounted the horrifying moment her husband was drawn into the machine. “He went limp in my arms,” she said tearfully, adding that she pleaded with staff to shut the machine down and call emergency services.
Despite attempts by Adrienne and the technician to pull Keith away, the magnetic force made it impossible. He was eventually freed but later died from cardiac arrest.
While authorities have ruled out foul play, an investigation has been launched to determine whether proper safety procedures were followed. Medical professionals from a nearby hospital expressed concern over the apparent breach of protocol regarding metallic objects in MRI environments.
