The governor shared these remarks during the 100th-anniversary event of the Yoruba Tennis Club, held in Onikan, Lagos. The celebration focused on the theme of democracy and the necessity of effective governance during difficult times.
Governor Eno stated that leadership demands more than just campaign rhetoric; it requires the delivery of measurable economic benefits. He noted that leaders must restore public trust by practicing transparency and accountability. According to Eno, sustainable development depends on policies that specifically target poverty reduction and the expansion of economic opportunities for all citizens.
Furthermore, he encouraged politicians to look past partisan and regional divisions, suggesting that governance should be fueled by fairness and a genuine dedication to humanity. At the same event, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu praised the Yoruba Tennis Club for its long-standing role in fostering civic discussion and intellectual growth since its founding in 1926.
