During a town hall meeting in London, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State urged citizens residing in the United Kingdom to actively support the economic reform agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Governor emphasized that Nigeria’s long-term success relies on contributions from citizens both at home and abroad, inviting the diaspora to leverage their resources and expertise to boost development in Kogi State.
Highlighting the administration’s progress, Governor Ododo noted that federal policies, such as the removal of fuel subsidies and fiscal restructuring, have provided states with the necessary resources to improve infrastructure, healthcare, and education. He specifically pointed to the revitalization of the Ajaokuta Steel Company and the approval of new trade zones as evidence of the President’s commitment to national growth.
The Governor also underscored the importance of unity in Kogi State, noting that shifting away from ethnic and religious divisions has been essential to the state’s recent achievements. He encouraged attendees to serve as ambassadors for their homeland, advocating for a shift in narrative that prioritizes national pride and constructive engagement over criticism.
Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Salman Idris, echoed these sentiments, praising the Governor’s partnership with the federal government and his dedication to ongoing state projects. Participants at the event lauded the current trajectory of Kogi State and expressed readiness to align with the Governor’s vision for sustainable progress.
