Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has officially appointed Dr. Lasisi Taiwo Abideen as the permanent Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan. Alongside the Rector, the governor named Dr. Olajide Taiwo Sherifat as Registrar, Mr. Adegbola Abiodun Kolawole as Bursar, and Mr. Osunrinade Olukunle Akinbola as Librarian.
These appointments, announced by the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, follow a formal selection process. Prof. Salihu Adelabu, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, confirmed that the recruitment complied with state regulations for tertiary institutions. The process involved advertising the roles publicly, followed by rigorous screening and interviews overseen by the Governing Council, which is led by Professor Lanre Nassar.
Effective as of July 31, 2026, these officials will serve a single five-year term. Prof. Adelabu urged the new leaders to prioritize academic excellence and institutional growth. These permanent appointments replace the previous acting leadership that had been in place for an extended period.
