The governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has officially presented the staff and certificate of office to the 46th Alaafin of Oyo, Prince Akeem Abimbola Owoade.
This ceremony marks the formal ascension of the new monarch to the prestigious throne of Alaafin of Oyo. The presentation took place at the Government House in Agodi, Ibadan, on Monday, January 13.
During the event, Governor Makinde emphasized the traditional significance of the Alaafin of Oyo, not only as a ruler but also as a custodian of the rich history and traditions of the kingdom.
Governor Makinde expressed confidence that Oba Owoade would lead with wisdom, integrity, and a strong commitment to the unity of Oyo.
The new Alaafin, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to the people of Oyo and pledged to prioritize the development of the kingdom and the welfare of its residents.
Oba Owoade succeeds the late Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, who reigned for 51 years before passing away. The Oyo State government officially announced Prince Owoade’s appointment as the new Alaafin of Oyo on Friday.
