Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved the construction of four additional modern markets in Yobe State to drive economic development and enhance commercial facilities.

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has given the green light for the development of four new modern markets to stimulate commercial growth and bolster economic vitality throughout the region. These facilities are slated for construction in Bumsa, Gulani; Sabon Garin Nangere, Nangere; Girgir, Jakusko; and Ngelzarma, Fune.

According to a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, signed by Ibrahim Baba Saleh, the initiative seeks to upgrade trading infrastructure, foster rural and urban commerce, and enhance the well-being of local entrepreneurs. This expansion continues the administration’s focus on economic recovery and support for small and medium-scale businesses.

Since 2019, the state has finalized projects like the Damaturu, Potiskum, Nguru, and Gashua ultra-modern markets, alongside facilities in Ngalda and Yunusari. Progress on the Geidam market is nearly finished, with work ongoing in Machina, Buni Yadi, and Yusufari. Including the latest approvals, the administration has now launched 14 market projects to decentralize commercial infrastructure and boost internal revenue across Yobe.
