Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has claimed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is plotting to block state government bank accounts before the August 15 governorship election. This assertion was shared in an official notice released on Tuesday in Osogbo by Kolapo Alimi, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment.
According to the governor, the state administration obtained reliable information regarding the commission’s intentions to restrict all government-held accounts. Furthermore, the governor warned that targeting the bank accounts of high-ranking officials would severely hinder the daily administration of the state during the crucial pre-election period.
Adeleke labeled the alleged scheme an extreme act of lawlessness. He argued that the agency lacks the legal authority to freeze state government assets and claimed such actions are designed to cripple regional governance before voters cast their ballots. The governor characterized this reported strategy as a clear misuse of authority and a direct threat to the stability of his administration.
