Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has approved the appointment of Dr. Suraj Sulaiman as the new Statistician-General and Director-General of the Kano State Bureau of Statistics. The appointment, announced in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, on Monday, takes immediate effect. It follows the completion of tenure by Associate Professor Aliyu Isa Aliyu, who has been elevated to the position of Commissioner for Livestock Development. Governor Yusuf has directed that the official handover and takeover process be concluded within the week. Dr. Sulaiman, an academic and mathematician, brings extensive experience in research, teaching, and statistical analysis. He earned his PhD in Mathematics from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, where his doctoral work focused on computational methods in algebra. He also holds an MSc from Yasar University, Turkey, and a BSc in Mathematics from Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil. His academic journey began at the College of Arts, Science and Remedial Studies, Kano, where he obtained a diploma in Mathematics Education.
