Reports from the New York Post indicate that Infantino is now petitioning the Trump administration to intervene in his favor.
To secure his role, he has arranged confidential meetings with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. It is believed Infantino is counting on political capital from his controversial decision to reverse Folarin Balogun’s red card during the 2026 World Cup—a move that was widely condemned across the football community.
