FCT Police Arrest Zamfara Native Over Plot To Supply 1,000 Rounds Of Ammunition To Bandits
Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command’s tactical team have arrested a 32-year-old man, Ahmed Abubakar, for allegedly attempting to procure a large cache of ammunition for bandits operating in Zamfara State.
The arrest was carried out on December 7 in the Anguwan Dodo area of Gwagwalada following credible intelligence, according to a statement released by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Abubakar, a native of Gusau, Zamfara State, had been in contact with an associate identified as Yusuf Mohammed in a bid to secure 1,000 rounds of ammunition for criminal groups in his home state.
Police further disclosed that the suspect was acting on the instructions of his uncle, identified as Ahmed Yakubu “M”, who is believed to be a key figure in the illegal operation and is currently on the run. Yakubu allegedly coordinated the purchase and transportation of the ammunition for bandits operating within their local communities in Zamfara.
Abubakar remains in police custody as investigations continue, with efforts intensified to track down the fleeing accomplice and dismantle the wider criminal network.
Reaffirming the command’s commitment to public safety, SP Adeh assured residents that the FCT Police would remain relentless in its fight against crime. She also urged members of the public to report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines: 0803 200 3913, 0806 158 1938, and 0902 222 2352.
