The Football Association has officially charged Everton attacker Martin Sherif for violating betting regulations over a period spanning 15 months. The 20-year-old athlete is accused of wagering on 61 separate football matches between November 20, 2024, and February 12, 2026. According to an official statement from the FA, Sherif has been cited for a breach of Rule E1.2 and is required to submit a formal response by August 17.
Sherif, who was born in Liberia, entered the Everton academy in 2019 and progressed to first-team training by early 2025. Although he has not yet played in a senior match for the club, he has spent time on loan elsewhere. During a stint with Rotherham United last summer, he netted two goals in 10 matches before an injury forced his early return in December. Subsequently, he completed the season at Port Vale, where he made 17 appearances and scored twice as the team faced relegation.
