Eva Longoria Says Motherhood At 43 Was “Exactly The Right Time”
Eva Longoria has opened up about why she chose to become a mother later in life, saying having her son in her 40s brought a calmness and wisdom she never had in her younger years.
In a conversation with The Sunday Times, the actress said motherhood at 43 felt like “perfect timing,” explaining that she now has the patience, grounding, and life experience that make raising her son, Santiago, even more meaningful.
Longoria noted that becoming a mum later meant she had already lived fully travelled, built her career, and explored her ambitions leaving her free to embrace parenthood without feeling torn. Now, she only accepts roles that are worth time spent away from her family.
“My family is my priority,” she said. “If something is taking me from them, it has to be something I’ll truly enjoy.”
She added that forty years focused on her own journey was more than enough. Everything she does now, she said, feels like “icing on the cake,” made sweeter because she gets to share it with her son.
Alongside her festive film Christmas Karma, Longoria is preparing to direct the Netflix comedy The Fifth Wheel, starring Kim Kardashian. Still, she emphasised that family comes first, praising her husband, José “Pepe” Baston, for supporting her work and home life.
Longoria and Baston married in 2016 and welcomed Santiago in 2018. She is also stepmother to Baston’s older children Natalia and twins Mariana and José Antonio.
