Estranged Wife of Ex-NFL Star Thomas Davis Arrested for Alleged Assault in Charlotte

Kelly Davis, the estranged wife of former NFL linebacker Thomas Davis, has been arrested in Charlotte, North Carolina, over accusations that she physically assaulted a woman she suspected of being romantically involved with her husband.

According to court filings, chiropractor Laura Watterson alleged that Kelly confronted her at her office on August 26, shouting accusations before striking her in the chest in front of a patient. Watterson further claimed that after demanding Kelly leave, the estranged wife knocked off her glasses and hit her again on the side of the head.

A warrant was issued three days later, and Kelly was booked into jail on September 3. She faces one count of misdemeanor assault and battery.

Her attorney, James J. Exum, denied the allegations, calling them “false,” and said, “We believe completely in Kelly’s innocence and we look forward to challenging the false allegations once we have a court date.”

Kelly and Thomas Davis, who married in 2008, separated in March 2024. In divorce filings, Kelly accused the former Panthers star of engaging in “illicit sexual conduct with at least six women” during their marriage.

Thomas Davis, drafted in the first round in 2005, played 13 seasons with the Carolina Panthers, earning three Pro Bowl selections and tallying more than 1,000 tackles before finishing his career with the Chargers and Washington Commanders. The couple share two children, including Thomas Davis Jr., a four-star linebacker committed to Notre Dame.
