EPL: Wirtz Joins Liverpool As Most Expensive British Transfer
Liverpool have agreed to a British-record transfer fee of £116.5 million to sign Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz, according to Sky Sports.
The deal includes an initial £100 million payment, with an additional £16.5 million in potential add-ons.
Wirtz is expected to finalise personal terms with the Premier League champions, but his medical will take place next week as he is currently on holiday.
The 22-year-old turned down interest from Manchester City, preferring a move to Arne Slot’s side.
Wirtz has spent his entire senior career at Leverkusen, scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists in 25 starts last season, helping them to a second-place finish a year after their league and cup double.
