According to Petit, the Argentine squad is unified in playing for the sake of Messi. In contrast, he observed that the Portuguese side does not operate with the same collective focus toward Ronaldo. He emphasized that resolving this team dynamic rests solely on the shoulders of Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez.
Currently, the tournament statistics show a gap between the two icons, as Messi has netted three goals compared to Ronaldo, who has yet to find the back of the net.
