Emmanuel Petit, the retired French international, believes Harry Kane is no longer a viable candidate for the 2026 Ballon d’Or. According to the 55-year-old, the Bayern Munich and England forward fails to meet the standard required for the honor because he is frequently absent during crucial matches.
Speaking with Sport1, Petit noted that Kane’s prospects took a hit following the recent World Cup. While he acknowledged that Kane’s Bundesliga performance makes him a potential nominee on paper, he argued that the striker struggles to perform when the pressure mounts in the Champions League or while playing for England.
This assessment comes despite Kane’s prolific scoring record. The 33-year-old recently secured his third consecutive Bundesliga top scorer title with 36 goals, added 10 goals in the DFB-Pokal, and managed to net 14 times across 13 appearances in the Champions League.
