Delta State Government launches $100 million fund to support private investment

Delta State has established a $100 million Viability Gap Fund to de-risk private investments and has pledged to fast-track economic agreements aimed at boosting industrialization.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has introduced a $100 million, or N137.8 billion, Viability Gap Fund aimed at reducing risks for private sector investors in Delta State. This initiative follows the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit, where the administration promised to prioritize the rapid implementation of newly signed agreements.

During the summit in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori emphasized that the funding is intended to transform investment promises into concrete projects that drive industrial expansion. He stressed that the event was not merely for discussion, but a platform for action to ensure economic growth. The state is actively working to establish itself as a premier destination for competitive business in Nigeria.

To support this goal, the government is focusing on fiscal stability and infrastructure. The Governor noted that the state has funded public infrastructure improvements without borrowing from financial institutions, reflecting a commitment to disciplined fiscal management. Investors are also being offered a five-year waiver on tenement rates, fees, and various levies.

Delta State is highlighting its diverse economic potential, including 12,000 hectares of land set aside for agriculture and significant opportunities within the blue economy along its 163-kilometer coastline. The administration is focused on building a resilient, diversified economy capable of creating jobs and ensuring long-term prosperity.
