Beginning August 1, 2026, the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) will strictly implement legal requirements regarding the information companies must include on their official business correspondence. A public notice issued on July 8, 2026, confirms this mandate affects all businesses registered under the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020.
Organizations failing to meet these standards will be subject to penalties. The regulatory body cited sections 304(1) and 304(2) of the Act as the legal basis for this enforcement. Firms must now explicitly print their legal business name and registration number on all letters. Additionally, the correspondence must list the full names or initials and surnames of every director. If a director uses a former name, it must also be disclosed, along with the nationality of any non-Nigerian board members.
The CAC emphasized that these measures are intended to boost accountability, corporate transparency, and overall regulatory strength within Nigeria. Companies are encouraged to update their stationery ahead of the August deadline to remain in good standing.
