Cleaner Arrested for Alleged Fraud and Sexual Assault Posing as Surgeon
A 28-year-old individual, Victor Cletus, has been apprehended following accusations that he defrauded and sexually assaulted a young woman by falsely claiming to be a doctor.
It was revealed that Cletus, who presented himself as a surgeon, is actually employed as a cleaner at Babcock University Teaching Hospital in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State.
The victim reported that Cletus initially contacted her on Snapchat. Trusting his fabricated medical background, she shared concerns about a breast lump with him.
The suspect allegedly requested an undisclosed sum of money for an operation fee and tricked her into meeting him on Tuesday for a purported surgical procedure.
However, instead of providing medical treatment, he reportedly sexually assaulted her, stole money from her Opay account, and repeatedly demanded sexual relations without carrying out any operation.
Police Spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed the arrest, stating that the action was prompted by the victim’s formal complaint. She noted that the case is under investigation and that the suspect will face legal action.
Odutola issued a cautionary statement, urging the public, especially young women, to be vigilant on social media where criminals often use fake profiles to lure, deceive, and extort unsuspecting individuals.
The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, strongly denounced the crime and warned online abusers and impostors that the Command will not permit any form of sexual violence, deception, or exploitation targeting women.
