Chelsea Manager Enzo Maresca Handed Touchline Ban

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca will miss the club’s upcoming Premier League home game against Everton after receiving a one-match touchline ban from the Football Association, according to a BBC report on Monday.

The suspension comes after Maresca picked up his third yellow card of the season, the latest issued for his animated celebrations following Pedro Neto’s stoppage-time winner in Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Fulham on Sunday, April 20.

The result lifted Chelsea into fifth place—the final Champions League qualification spot—edging ahead of Nottingham Forest on goal difference. However, Forest can reclaim the position if they avoid defeat in their fixture against Tottenham on Monday night.

Maresca, 45, had previously been booked during matches against Newcastle and Bournemouth earlier in the campaign.

His ban will apply only to Saturday’s match at Stamford Bridge, and he is expected to return for Chelsea’s key showdown against league leaders Liverpool on May 4.

In his absence, assistant manager Willy Caballero, the former Argentine international and Chelsea goalkeeper, is expected to lead the team from the touchline.
