Professional golfer Charley Hull has advised her critics to relax after she faced negative reactions for a prank involving a fake scratchcard. During preparations for the Women’s Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes, Hull recorded herself giving her caddie, Adam Woodward, a ticket bought at a novelty shop in Blackpool, which falsely suggested he had won a prize of £100,000.
The video drew condemnation from social media users and members of the golf community, including four-time major champion Dame Laura Davies, who labeled the stunt cruel. Despite the disapproval, Hull stands by her decision and stated she would repeat the prank without hesitation.
Hull explained that she avoids using social media during tournament weeks to maintain her focus. Addressing the incident, she noted that Woodward found the situation humorous afterward. She dismissed the negative feedback, suggesting that those offended should not take the lighthearted joke so seriously. To make amends, Hull jokingly promised to purchase 100 actual scratchcards for her caddie at the conclusion of the tournament.
