Celtic have finalized the acquisition of German midfielder Mika Baur from Paderborn for an undisclosed transfer fee. The 22-year-old has committed to a four-year contract, with an extension option for an additional season.
Baur played a significant role in helping Paderborn secure promotion to the Bundesliga last season, ending a six-year wait for top-flight football. During his 36 appearances, the Salem-born playmaker recorded four goals and six assists. Before his stint at Paderborn, he gained valuable experience on loan at Dynamo Dresden, where he helped the side achieve promotion to Bundesliga 2.
The son of former handball star Markus Baur, Mika has represented Germany at every youth level up to the under-21s. While he had the opportunity to compete in the Bundesliga with Paderborn, he opted for a move to Scotland, aiming to improve his chances of a senior international call-up. Primarily operating as a deep-lying playmaker, Baur credits his recent development to guidance from his coaching staff and his experience during his loan spell.
