Atletico Madrid reports Barcelona to FIFA regarding Julian Alvarez pursuit

Atletico Madrid has contacted FIFA to challenge Barcelona’s pursuit of striker Julian Alvarez after the player publicly voiced his desire to leave the club.

Atletico Madrid has officially escalated a complaint to FIFA concerning Barcelona’s interest in striker Julian Alvarez. The move follows the Argentine international’s recent public announcement expressing his desire to depart the Wanda Metropolitano this summer, citing a preference for a move to his “dream” club, which is widely understood to be Barcelona.

Atletico CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin has firmly rejected the possibility of a transfer to their domestic rivals. Addressing the media via EFE, Gil Marin criticized the timing of the player’s remarks, noting that the focus should have remained on Lionel Messi and the national team. He emphasized that while the club acknowledges the player’s ambitions, their own stance remains unchanged: they have no intention of selling Alvarez.

The club has previously demonstrated its resolve by turning down a €150 million offer for the 26-year-old from Real Madrid.
