The Anambra State Police Command has successfully apprehended two individuals sought for their involvement in local kidnapping operations. SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesperson, confirmed the arrests in an official report released this past Saturday.
Following reliable intelligence, officers from the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu conducted a targeted mission leading to the detention of Dauda Mohamed. During questioning, Mohamed admitted to being part of a criminal kidnapping network based in Kogi State. He specifically identified Umar Ali as the gang leader, noting that Ali was responsible for organizing logistics and providing weaponry to the group.
Mohamed also disclosed the names of two other alleged syndicate members, known as Usman and Gongola, who currently remain in hiding. Investigators have connected Mohamed to the abduction of an individual at the Divine Heritage Lodge in Ukwulu, located in the Dunukofia Local Government Area. Authorities stated that during this specific crime, attackers emerged from a nearby unfinished structure, discharged firearms, and forced their victim into the surrounding woods before demanding a 30 million naira ransom.
