The Adamawa State government has announced plans to tear down the longstanding Doctors Quarters. Erected in 1975 to support the Specialist Hospital in Yola, the site will be repurposed to construct a modern 48-unit housing estate.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri issued the demolition order on Monday after inspecting the property. He labeled the existing buildings as decaying and unfit for the needs of medical staff. The replacement project is intended to provide housing for doctors, house officers, and clinical workers serving the Specialist Hospital.
Situated on Hospital Road in the Jimeta district of Yola North, the medical facility is currently undergoing a transformation into the Adamawa State University Teaching Hospital. Governor Fintiri stated that construction on the new residential units will begin shortly, with a goal to finalize the project before his term concludes in May 2027.
