The Accord party is pushing for the rapid apprehension and legal prosecution of Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, the senator representing Osun East. This demand follows the emergence of a campaign video showing the senator urging All Progressives Congress members to kill his party’s supporters.
According to the party, this incident highlights a broader pattern of intimidation, political violence, and harassment faced by their members. They allege that these acts are carried out by APC-aligned thugs working alongside the police and the EFCC. Accord’s National Publicity Secretary, Joseph Omorogbe, stated that such public threats from a sitting senator are unacceptable, particularly as the state prepares for its gubernatorial election.
The party has formally urged the Inspector General of Police and the head of the DSS to intervene and stop both the senator and the associated thugs. They are also calling on international bodies, including the European Union, the US and UK embassies, the African Union, and ECOWAS, to monitor the situation closely and denounce any anti-democratic behavior. Additionally, Accord is seeking the immediate release of more than 60 members they claim are being held unlawfully in Abuja and Nasarawa State.
