A Guide to the 2026-27 English Football League Schedule Announcement

Key details on the 2026-27 EFL schedule release, including team movements, kickoff dates, and major managerial changes across the divisions.

The official fixture list for the 2026-27 English Football League (EFL) campaign is scheduled for release on Thursday, 25 June, at 12:00 BST. This season will feature several notable club movements, including Lincoln City returning to the second tier for the first time in 65 years. Joining them in the Championship are relegated sides West Ham United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Burnley.

Leicester City, enduring back-to-back relegations, finds itself in League One alongside Oxford United and Sheffield Wednesday. Meanwhile, York City and Rochdale are set for their return to the EFL after successful campaigns in the National League. The league season officially kicks off between 14-16 August, though the Carabao Cup begins earlier, from 7-9 August. Draws for both the Carabao Cup and the Vertu Trophy are slated for the same day as the fixture reveal.

This year marks the third of the Sky Sports broadcast agreement, promising over 1,000 televised matches. Beyond the schedule, the league has seen significant turnover in management. Wolves have hired Cesar Peixoto, while Burnley remains in search of a successor to Scott Parker. Lincoln City will be guided by the duo of Chris Cohen and Tom Shaw following Michael Skubala’s departure to Bristol City. Other major appointments include Tony Mowbray at Blackburn Rovers and Alessio Dionisi taking the helm at Watford.
