The G100, an alliance of opposition figures, has moved its planned Summit of Opposition Political Parties from August 18 to Monday, August 31, 2026. This decision follows discussions between the six involved political groups and the House of Representatives Minority Caucus.
Salihu Moh. Lukman released a statement on Thursday explaining the change. The delay was prompted by the National Peace Summit occurring on August 18, an event that will draw many of the same leaders and stakeholders participating in the G100. By shifting the date, organizers aim to allow for more preparation and internal discussions.
Lukman described recent interactions with party leadership and the Minority Caucus as productive and open. He emphasized that the various groups recognize the importance of this period for Nigerian democracy. While acknowledging existing differences, he noted a shared commitment to finding practical ways to cooperate. The group plans to use the additional time to refine proposals and frameworks for the upcoming meeting, with further details on the venue and agenda to be released later.
