For the upcoming Osun State governorship election on August 15, 2026, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has mobilized 2,500 staff members and 50 vehicles. This fleet includes six ambulances and seven heavy-duty tow trucks intended for emergency support.
Deputy Corps Commander Osondu Ohaeri, the agency’s public education lead, confirmed the deployment will span all three senatorial districts. The primary goal is to maintain orderly traffic and enforce movement restrictions throughout the voting process. The workforce includes 2,300 local personnel reinforced by 50 officers each from Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti, and Ondo states.
Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed emphasized that the agency intends to facilitate a secure and fair election. He noted that staff members will prioritize professionalism and neutrality while coordinating with the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security. To prepare, the agency is hosting a workshop involving the Police, INEC, DSS, and NSCDC.
Additionally, the FRSC will inspect vehicles used for transporting election materials to verify they are roadworthy. Enforcement of movement limitations starts at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday. Motorists are urged to plan accordingly and adhere to all traffic directives to ensure safety during the exercise.
