The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has asserted that the upcoming Osun State gubernatorial election, set for August 15, 2026, represents a desperate, winner-take-all situation for the All Progressives Congress (APC). Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, shared this perspective during a recent appearance on Arise Television.
Abdullahi argued that controversial remarks made by Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who represents the Osun East Senatorial District, should be taken literally rather than as symbolic language. In a widely circulated video, Fadahunsi urged his followers to attack members of the Accord Party. Although the senator later defended himself by stating his comments were taken out of context and meant to encourage political defeat rather than physical violence, the ADC remains unconvinced.
During his interview, the ADC spokesperson shifted the focus of responsibility toward the presidency. He claimed that Senator Fadahunsi’s rhetoric reflects an atmosphere fostered by President Bola Tinubu, citing the President’s previous comments regarding the nature of political competition as tacit permission for extreme tactics.
