Goriola Yakub, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress, claims that Rabiu Kwankwaso’s recent choice to partner with Peter Obi will likely hinder his political goals for 2031. Speaking during a session with Trust TV, Yakub characterized this alliance as potentially the most damaging maneuver in the career of the former New Nigeria Peoples Democratic Party presidential contender.
Yakub recalled that in 2022, Kwankwaso himself argued against serving as a deputy to Obi, citing his own northern heritage as a factor. The APC chieftain questioned the logic of the move, noting that if Kwankwaso could not secure the North for his own presidential run, he would struggle to provide those same votes for Obi. According to Yakub, Peter Obi lacks a viable path to success in Northern Nigeria, making the partnership strategically flawed for Kwankwaso’s future ambitions.
