The British Horseracing Authority has moved the opening race at Ffos Las in South Wales from 17:40 to 15:35 to avoid the eclipse period. Meanwhile, Kempton racecourse officials stated that their evening races at 19:00 and 19:30 will proceed as planned because the track is equipped with floodlights. Several cricket matches, including four Hundred fixtures, will also utilize artificial lighting to ensure visibility during the event.
Historical context recalls the 1999 eclipse, when a League Cup football game between Torquay United and Portsmouth was delayed. At that time, Devon and Cornwall Police requested the postponement due to concerns over crowd safety caused by large numbers of tourists traveling to witness the eclipse.
