Property owners spanning six local government areas in Ibadan, impacted by the Ibadan Circular Road project, are requesting that Governor Seyi Makinde finalize their compensation packages before his term concludes. This appeal was voiced during a gathering with Abimbola Adekanmbi, the Allied Peoples Movement gubernatorial candidate.
The project, which began under former Governor Rasidi Ladoja and saw construction phases during Abiola Ajimobi’s tenure, has disrupted hundreds of homes across Akinyele, Egbeda, Ido, Oluyole, Lagelu, and Ona Ara. Although Governor Makinde previously established a committee to manage the payments, residents report that the N5.8 billion approved for the first segment remains unpaid despite the completion of verification processes.
Prince Niyi Fasoye, speaking for the affected group, urged Adekanmbi to advocate on their behalf to ensure these financial obligations are met before the upcoming elections. In response, Adekanmbi acknowledged the necessity of fulfilling these payments for all verified individuals and suggested that the verification process should be expedited for those currently outstanding.
