The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has expressed openness to public evaluation while firmly defending the track record of its Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bayo Ojulari. The firm cited significant gains in oil and gas production as evidence of his effective management.
This response addresses claims made by the Oil and Gas Professionals Forum (OGPF) regarding the company’s role in the latest oil licensing rounds. Andy Odeh, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, emphasized that NNPC maintains a commitment to transparency. He clarified that the company lacks regulatory power, noting that the Petroleum Industry Act of 2021 assigns the responsibility for licensing and block allocation exclusively to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
Data released by the company highlights a positive trend in output. Crude oil production increased from 1.60 million barrels per day in April 2025 to 1.67 million barrels per day by April 2026, marking a six percent rise. Additionally, gas production grew by five percent, climbing from 7,354 million standard cubic feet per day to 7,729 million standard cubic feet per day over the same period. These statistics are verified in the organization’s Monthly Performance Report.
While welcoming feedback, the NNPC cautioned against circulating unverified claims. The company urged industry analysts to confirm facts through official channels to ensure public discourse remains constructive and accurate.
