Railway police in Delhi recently detained two Nigerian nationals following the discovery of 2.28 kilograms of cocaine. The seized drugs are valued at approximately Rs20 crore, which translates to nearly N380 million.
The individuals in custody, 43-year-old Chikanso James and 41-year-old Happiness Okoye, were intercepted while patrolling Platform One at the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station. The New Indian Express reported that officers grew suspicious of the women’s behavior, leading them to conduct a search based on the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
During the search, officers located 11 packets of cocaine concealed on James. Forensic experts and crime unit members verified that the substance was indeed cocaine. Investigators believe the shipment is tied to a drug trafficking route operating between Mumbai and the Delhi-NCR area. James reportedly told officials that the narcotics were obtained in Vikaspuri. Law enforcement is now working to uncover other members of the syndicate and investigate the network’s financial operations. James remains in police custody, while Okoye has been remanded to judicial custody as the investigation proceeds.
