Nasir Idris, the Governor of Kebbi State, has tasked the Nigerian Army’s latest reinforcements with launching aggressive operations to neutralize bandits and criminals disturbing the peace in the Yauri area. To bolster security, the Army has moved additional personnel into the Yauri, Shanga, and Ngaski regions, along with surrounding villages.
During a Friday inspection of the newly arrived units in Yauri, Governor Idris praised the Chief of Army Staff for his quick reaction to the state’s security requests. He characterized the move as a strategic and well-timed measure to restore order and safeguard local residents.
The governor noted that the Yauri corridor presents a specific security challenge due to its nearness to Zamfara and Niger states, while areas like Fakai border Sokoto. Furthermore, he highlighted that Kebbi shares an international frontier with the Republic of Benin. Idris encouraged the soldiers to actively pursue these criminal groups so that displaced farmers can reclaim their lands and return to agricultural work.
Addressing the soldiers, the governor stated his expectation that they eliminate the bandit threat, noting that he believes in their ability to resolve the instability. He committed to ongoing support from the state government and emphasized the necessity of strong cooperation between federal and local authorities. Finally, he honored the commitment of security forces and stated his trust in the Army’s ability to defend the lives and property of Kebbi citizens.
