In a formal statement, Ejiofor argued that the burial of 27 victims of recent violence represents the tragic human toll of ongoing instability. He warned against the normalization of such killings, noting that societal silence and fleeting reactions only embolden perpetrators of violence. He urged the nation to move past passive observation and demand real accountability.
The lawyer highlighted that political focus has increasingly shifted toward 2027 election preparations, distracting from the urgent need to address insurgencies and criminality. He also defended the right of Catholic bishops to criticize the Presidency, asserting that religious institutions are vital voices for moral oversight and national stability.
Addressing the specific incident in the Naridan farming community, which sits on the border of Kaduna and Plateau states, Ejiofor recalled how armed attackers struck on a Sunday night, resulting in numerous deaths and the displacement of residents.
