Kalu Kalu, a lawyer and African Democratic Congress member, has demanded that President Bola Tinubu step down from his position. He contends that the president lacks the necessary primary and secondary school academic records.
During an appearance on Channels Television, Kalu stated that the absence of these documents has become a confirmed reality. He challenged the president to release the certificates to settle the ongoing public debate. The lawyer argued that transparency regarding these credentials would immediately resolve the controversy.
Kalu noted that this dispute dates back to 1999, when the late Gani Fawehinmi initially raised concerns that ultimately reached the Supreme Court. While legal challenges were dismissed on procedural grounds, the issue returned during the 2023 election and continues to persist in 2026. Kalu believes the president must address the situation directly to put the matter to rest.
In response to these claims, President Tinubu and his administration have consistently asserted that he fulfills all constitutional mandates for office. Previous legal challenges regarding his eligibility have been rejected by the courts.
