President Bola Tinubu has greenlit the hiring of 3,252 verified Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) staff into the federal public service. This initiative intends to resolve instructor deficits within Federal Unity Colleges and elevate national educational standards.
Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, unveiled the directive on Thursday. He characterized the decision as a significant advancement for the federal administration’s goal of bolstering the education sector. This move brings job security to educators who have served in Federal Unity and Technical Colleges for as long as 25 years without permanent status.
The integration follows an extensive vetting process managed by an Inter-Ministerial Committee, which confirmed the eligibility of 3,252 candidates. These individuals serve as Education Officers, Assistant Education Officers, and Technical Instructors. By transitioning these experienced staff into the public service, the government aims to enhance student-teacher ratios and maintain crucial institutional expertise.
The Minister explained that this action supports the Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to transform Federal Unity Colleges into hubs of academic success. The Ministry of Education is currently coordinating with other state agencies to finalize the appointment procedures. Dr. Alausa emphasized that the process will remain transparent and fair while affirming the government’s broader strategy to support and motivate the teaching profession across Nigeria.
