Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has declared that he will depart from the All Progressives Congress if President Bola Tinubu demonstrates contempt toward the Catholic Church or political opponents. During an interview on Channels Television, the former Abia State governor noted that while Tinubu is not obligated to offer special treatment to the opposition before the 2027 elections, he must maintain respect for these groups.
Kalu emphasized that as a politician, Tinubu is naturally disinclined to provide a grand welcome to his rivals. However, he maintained that the President has treated them fairly thus far. According to Kalu, as long as individuals follow national laws, they remain safe, and he expressed confidence that the President intends to conduct a fair political contest without targeting his adversaries.
