A coordinated mission overseen by the Office of the National Security Adviser has successfully freed 308 individuals held captive for six months. These victims were liberated from the Kainji Lake National Park following a targeted military operation.
The group was originally seized during raids on Woro village in Kwara State and nearby settlements in Niger State occurring on February 3 and 4. Currently, the survivors are receiving medical evaluations and care at the Wawa Cantonment located in the Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
Data confirmed the group consists of 163 residents from Kwara and 145 from Niger. The Commander of the 22 Brigade is managing their immediate needs, including food, medical support, and housing.
Logistical preparations for their return are finalized. Buses are stationed at Sobi Cantonment in Ilorin to transport the Kwara residents home. State authorities are actively facilitating the safe transit of all victims back to their respective communities.
