The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has claimed that President Bola Tinubu is prioritizing political victory over democratic integrity. Through a statement released on Wednesday by National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party asserted that the Federal Government is utilizing state apparatuses to diminish opposition influence before the upcoming Osun State gubernatorial race.
The ADC labeled the suspension of local government statutory allocations in Osun as political terrorism, intended to sabotage the state administration. By blocking these funds, the party argues that essential services, including worker salaries, education, and primary healthcare, are being compromised for partisan gain. The party maintains that the President’s combative political style is incompatible with democratic governance.
Furthermore, the ADC alleged that APC loyalists remain in control of local government councils, while opposition members face systemic harassment. They accused security forces of ignoring intimidation tactics by pro-APC groups. The party emphasized that political opponents are not adversaries and urged the Federal Government to release the withheld funds, restore order, and allow Osun residents to determine their own leadership without external pressure.
