Edo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, hosted Daniel Osagiobare on Wednesday to celebrate his achievement as the top UTME scorer in the South-South region and the fourth-highest nationally. During the ceremony in Benin City, Idahosa presented the student with one million naira for scoring an impressive 368 in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exam.
The Deputy Governor praised Osagiobare as a commendable representative of the state, noting that his success demonstrates the capabilities of local youth when given proper backing. According to Press Secretary Friday Aghedo, the financial gift serves as both a reward for the student’s dedication and a motivation for others to pursue academic success.
Idahosa also highlighted the administration’s ongoing focus, under Governor Monday Okpebholo, on fostering an environment where talented individuals can excel on a global scale. He advised Osagiobare to stay dedicated and humble as he continues his education.
In response, Osagiobare thanked the government for the support, calling it a pivotal moment in his academic journey. The student’s father, Christopher Osagiobare, joined in the gratitude, emphasizing how such recognition encourages young Nigerians to aim for excellence.
