Three brothers serving as local vigilantes were shot and killed during an ambush in the Tarai community of Jol, located in the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State. The attack took place on Tuesday night around 10:47 p.m. as the men carried out routine surveillance.
The victims were identified as 51-year-old Dachung Danjuma, 37-year-old Victor Danjuma, and 35-year-old Nyam Danjuma. All three died immediately after being ambushed by unidentified gunmen. Residents noted that Victor Danjuma leaves behind a wife and five children who had only recently planned to return home after fleeing a prior attack in the nearby Tan Jol area.
Rwang Tengwong, spokesperson for the Berom Youth Moulders Association, verified the tragedy. He criticized the ongoing violence plaguing Riyom and surrounding districts, calling for security forces to bolster protection for residents. As of now, law enforcement officials have not provided a formal statement regarding the incident.
