Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has ordered security forces to bolster efforts against unauthorized mining, stressing that all violators must face legal consequences irrespective of their social standing or affiliations. The governor delivered this mandate during a meeting with Major General Maxwell Dangana, General Officer Commanding the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army.
Mohammed stated that his government would not protect offenders, noting that even his own relatives would be subject to the law if proven guilty. He emphasized that security remains essential for regional progress and expressed his resolve to eliminate criminal activity. The governor also praised the military for their successful actions in Alkaleri Local Government Area, which helped stabilize the region.
To combat banditry and illegal mining more effectively, the governor advocated for enhanced intelligence sharing and joint patrols between Bauchi and its neighbors. He confirmed that the state is backing these efforts with logistics, infrastructure, and a new Joint Task Force base in Mansur. Major General Dangana thanked the governor for this cooperation and promised that the Army remains dedicated to maintaining order throughout the state.
