The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State has cautioned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to cease his verbal assaults against party leader Rotimi Amaechi. The ADC characterized Wike’s frequent public criticisms as a display of insecurity regarding the rising opposition rather than a show of political dominance.
Addressing the matter in Port Harcourt, State Publicity Secretary Chizi Enyi stated that the minister’s attempts to diminish Amaechi’s political stature are ineffective. Enyi questioned why Wike would prioritize attacking figures he claims hold no political influence, suggesting that such behavior contradicts his outward assertions of confidence.
The party also rejected Wike’s recent claim that the 2027 gubernatorial election in Rivers State is already decided. The ADC emphasized that every electoral cycle is distinct and depends on the prevailing circumstances and the will of the voters. Furthermore, the statement noted that residents are currently more focused on pressing issues like economic stability, security, and infrastructure rather than political infighting.
Enyi urged the minister to focus on his official responsibilities in the federal capital instead of attempting to dictate the political future of Rivers State. The ADC reaffirmed its commitment to presenting practical solutions to the public, maintaining that the electorate will ultimately determine the outcome of the 2027 polls through their democratic choices.
