Sacha Lewis has officially joined the professional ranks at Manchester City, signing her first deal with the Women’s Super League club. The 18-year-old defender is the sister of England and Manchester City men’s player Rico Lewis and has risen through the academy setup since joining at the under-14 level.
Last season, she earned recognition as the player of the season for the club’s under-21 squad. Her development also saw her included in the senior matchday squad on two occasions during the team’s successful title-winning campaign. Though she was also selected for the squad during the Women’s League Cup semi-final against Chelsea, she is still awaiting her first appearance for the senior side.
Expressing her pride, Lewis noted the significant effort required to reach this stage and her gratitude for continuing her career at the club she supports. Therese Sjogran, City’s director of football, praised the teenager as an exemplary figure for her peers. Her brother, Rico, has established himself as a regular in the men’s squad since his 2022 debut, earning five international caps for England. Manchester City is scheduled to commence their league title defence against Birmingham City on September 6.
