Wike asserts Tinubu is the only leader capable of revitalizing Nigeria

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike maintains that President Tinubu is the only leader with the necessary resolve to tackle Nigeria’s long-standing economic struggles.

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has voiced his support for President Bola Tinubu, asserting that he is the singular candidate currently capable of addressing Nigeria’s deep-rooted economic issues. During a media event in Abuja this Tuesday, Wike highlighted the removal of the fuel subsidy as a prime example of the president’s willingness to implement difficult reforms.

The minister acknowledged that these policy changes have resulted in immediate challenges for the public. However, he emphasized that the reforms have fundamentally improved the financial health of state governments. By ending the unsustainable subsidy regime, which he labeled as a systemic drain on resources, states now possess the funds necessary for infrastructure projects and timely salary payments without resorting to debt.

Wike cautioned that economic recovery is a gradual process that cannot be rushed, especially after over a decade of accumulation. He reiterated that true leadership is measured by the determination to enact necessary, though unpopular, changes. Ultimately, Wike credits Tinubu for choosing to address structural economic failures rather than following the path of previous administrations that avoided these critical, if uncomfortable, decisions.
