Law enforcement in Bauchi State has detained five individuals following two distinct police operations targeting burglary and the possession of suspected cannabis within the city. Officers from the Violent Crimes Response Unit executed these arrests on August 3, 2026.
During an afternoon patrol in Doya Quarters, authorities stopped a tricycle transporting Sadiq Abdullahi, Muhammad Suleman, and driver Aliyu Abubakar. A search of the vehicle yielded stolen property including high-end footwear, clothing, jewelry, a television, and kitchen appliances. The trio admitted to working with an accomplice named Nanu, who is currently evading capture, to loot a residence in Unguwar Sarakuna. The victims confirmed the theft occurred while they were away from the home.
In a separate incident that evening in the Bayan Gari neighborhood, police arrested Mansur Sani and Umar Muhammad. The pair was allegedly caught trading parcels of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. Both cases remain under active investigation as police seek to locate the remaining fugitive and identify the source of the illicit substances. CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu praised the officers for their diligence and encouraged the public to continue reporting suspicious activity.
